The Library serves as a gateway to all people as they pursue an education either formally or independently.
A Unique Kind of Internet Bookseller
Thanks for visiting the Library Bookstore Online! We are excited to be one of the only Library booksellers to offer our inventory for sale on the Internet.
The Library Bookstore Online is operated by the Rundel Library Foundation. The Foundation is a not-for-profit, public charity that develops and implements fund raising, marketing, and public relations programs to support the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County.
The RLF accepts donations of books and other library materials from the community. A portion of the donations are added to the Librarys collections and the remainder become part of the inventory of the Library Bookstore or the Library Bookstore Online.
All proceeds are used for the support and benefit of the Rochester Public Library. The Library serves approximately 950,000 people, regardless of their age, educational level, economic status, religious belief, or cultural heritage.
The Central Library is comprised of the Rundel Memorial Building and the Bausch and Lomb Public Library Building. The former was built in 1936 and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places; the latter is a 90,000 square foot structure that was completed in 1997.
The Library Bookstore Online resulted from the Foundations desire to expand its store operations to include a larger number of readers. Books have been donated generously in such great numbers that the Library Bookstore was no longer large enough to house them all.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our store. Please contact us with comments or suggestions. Bear with us as we continue to add books to our initial inventory!
